🍅 One-Pot Creamy Tomato Basil Tortellini

Ingredients (Serves 3–4):

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil or butter

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce (or tomato basil pasta sauce)

  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for lighter)

  • 1 package (18–20 oz) cheese tortellini (fresh or frozen)

  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese

  • ½ cup fresh basil, chopped (or 1 Tbsp dried basil)

  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Optional Garnishes: extra parmesan, more basil, drizzle of olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Sauté Garlic

    • In a large pot or deep skillet, heat olive oil/butter over medium heat.

    • Add garlic, sauté for 1 minute until fragrant (don’t let it burn).

  2. Add Sauce & Cream

    • Stir in marinara sauce and heavy cream.

    • Simmer gently for 3–4 minutes.

  3. Cook Tortellini

    • Add the tortellini directly into the sauce.

    • Stir and cook 5–7 minutes (longer if frozen) until pasta is tender.

    • If sauce gets too thick, add a splash of water or broth.

  4. Finish with Cheese & Basil

    • Stir in parmesan and fresh basil.

    • Add red pepper flakes if using.

    • Taste and season with salt/pepper.

  5. Serve

    • Ladle into bowls, top with more parmesan and basil.
