Greek Yogurt Parfaits

Greek Yogurt Parfaits Recipe

Ingredients:

  • For the Parfaits:

    • 2 cups plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or low-fat, depending on preference)
    • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 cup granola (store-bought or homemade)
    • 1 cup fresh berries (such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries)
    • Optional: 1 tablespoon chia seeds or flax seeds for added nutrition
  • For Garnish (optional):

    • Fresh mint leaves
    • A drizzle of honey or maple syrup
    • Extra granola

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Yogurt Mixture:

    • In a medium bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, honey (or maple syrup), and vanilla extract. Mix well until smooth and evenly sweetened. Adjust the sweetness according to your taste.
  2. Prepare the Berries:

    • Wash the fresh berries thoroughly. If using strawberries, slice them into smaller pieces for easier layering.
  3. Assemble the Parfaits:

    • Choose your serving glasses or bowls. For a traditional parfait, clear glass jars or cups work best to show off the layers.
    • Start by adding a spoonful of the Greek yogurt mixture to the bottom of each glass.
    • Next, add a layer of granola. If you’re using chia seeds or flax seeds, you can sprinkle them over the granola layer.
    • Add a layer of fresh berries on top of the granola.
    • Repeat the layers until you reach the top of the glass, finishing with a layer of yogurt.
  4. Garnish and Serve:

    • For a finishing touch, you can drizzle a little extra honey or maple syrup on top.
    • Add a few more fresh berries and a sprinkle of granola for an attractive presentation.
    • Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
  5. Chill or Serve Immediately:

    • You can serve the parfaits immediately or chill them in the refrigerator for up to 2 hours. This allows the flavors to meld together and the granola to soften slightly.
  6. Enjoy:

    • Serve your Greek Yogurt Parfaits as a wholesome breakfast, satisfying snack, or a light dessert.

Tips:

  • Granola: For a healthier option, use homemade granola with less sugar and added nuts or seeds.
  • Berry Alternatives: Feel free to use other fruits such as bananas, apples, or pears. Just be sure to adjust the layering according to the fruit’s texture.
  • Vegan Option: Use plant-based yogurt and a vegan sweetener if you prefer a dairy-free or vegan version.
